One of my favorite memories from childhood is cooking and baking hot, sweet, and soft cinnamon buns and apple-cinnamon pirozhki with my grandma! This rich memory is full of love, fun, and a cinnamon aroma that always brings in a rush of nostalgia! Even today, a piece of yeast-based sweet dough tastes like a spoonful of pure happiness! It is the choice of parents what kind of memories they wish to create for their little ones!
Today we have a number of tools and ideas to keep our kids entertained, but we are going to talk about a tried-and-tested evergreen fundamental formula to bond with kids – Food! Bonding time with parents in the kitchen is super beneficial; it establishes a healthy relationship with food, creates a flavor palette, and is a melting pot of life-lasting memories!
I love cooking because it is a very sensory and sensual experience. You have to use your hands a lot, eyes, nose, counting, measuring, reading, learning new ingredients, and even skills to plan and build confidence and improve creativity! To add to that, we all know how important this life skill is and what a gift it proves to be for your kids. So forget about the potential mess in the kitchen, and look at it as a bigger picture.
Before I share a list of my favorite healthy cooking with kids’ cookbooks, I will clarify how I picked these books. I know that health means something different to everyone, so I wanted to ensure we captured this in our round-up.
My idea of healthy means no processed food and wholesome ingredients. Ergo, most recipes in the below-mentioned cookbooks are based on fresh vegetables, fruits, and dairy products, with no refined sugar, no processed meat, minimum flour, and no artificial ingredients.
